At a glance you can see the new lanes are different, but are they better?
YOU BET THEY ARE!
First off a brief history lesson; Synthetic lanes have been around for many years.
Until the last few years they were made by compressing wood (particle board) under high pressure, then adhering a wood-toned laminate to the surface. These lanes did provide a more consistent surface than wood, unfortunately they did tend to delaminate over time causing discoloration, and an inconsistent surface. Brunswick's answer to this was to toss out the particle board in favor of a full synthetic. They called it Anvilane. It has proven itself to be one of the best bowling surfaces available, however Brunswick wasn't done. With the advent of Pro Lane they have added new markings to aid in aiming. These markings help both low and high average bowlers line up to bowl their best games.
The first thing most bowlers notice are the lines on the on either side of the every
fifth board. These lines go the entire length of the lane and are especially good to help you hit the arrows.
Those bowlers throwing hook balls may find the down-lane markers useful in judging
break-points. These markers are visible from the foul line, and are a great tool to dial in the more complex equipment better bowlers use today.
So to sum up: The new lanes are more consistent than wood lanes, creating 24
virtually identical playing surfaces. They have special markers that help you line up. Oh, and one more thing they look goooood!
So far the comments have been overwhelmingly positive. I hope your experience is
just as good.
See you on the lanes
